On The Degrees Of Privacy
December 15, 2014 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Analysis of theoretical accounts of privacy suggests that 'privacy' should be treated as a degree concept rather than as a crisp one. Proposed conceptualisation of privacy in epistemic terms allows for identification of several dimensions of gradability and vagueness. Potential drawback of such approach is a certain apprehension that vagueness can be harmful for the explanatory value of the concept. I will argue that it is not an insurmountable issue.
